Small-clawed Otter (Aonyx cinerea)

Interesting :

Its size is small. Its body is short and fat. Upper part of its body is brown-gray in color, while the color of its lower part is lighter. Beneath its chin and the lower side of its neck is off-white in color. Its claws are short and are not extend past its fingers. It has a little tissue between its fingers, strong tail, and small ears. Its hair is short and glossy.

Habitat :

It is found in China, Assam, Nepal, Sikkim, India, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra, Java, and Phillipines.

Food :

It eats fishes, shells, and crabs. Sometimes, it moves on to land to find small animals and insects to eat.

Behavior :

It likes making a living in water. It keens on swimming. It stays around creeks, rivers, and swamps in forests. When it swims, it waves its tail up and down to make it moves very quickly in water. It likes to stay in herd.

Reproductive :

But during breeding season, it stays in couple.Otter breeds in water. One litter contains around 2 – 4 young..
